Polynesian Tattoo Octopus

This is an original design but was inspired by ancient Polynesian tattoos, particularly Tahitian and Marquesan styles. Whereas traditional tattoos of this type would be more symbolic, simplified images, this is unique in that old-style patterns are placed on a more life-like octopus.

I originally executed the design on this shirt for Tahitian Noni International. I thought it’d look cool on T-shirts and approached them about the possibility. They agreed that it was a great idea and kindly gave me permission to use it here.
